Art for Beginners
My
name is Jaiya Upshaw and I am in the 4th grade. I have loved art for
as long as I can remember. I like to draw and paint what’s around me like
nature, people, animals, etc. This article is about why I love art and how you
can create your own art.
WHY I LOVE ART
I
love art because it’s my second voice. I can express myself through drawings.
And when I draw something of my own, I feel like it has a part of me in it.
EARLY ART FORMS
A
long time ago art and paint didn’t exist. So how did they create art, you ask?
They
didn’t have the paint that we have now, but they had their own paint: animal
blood and mud. Isn’t that wild?! For example, this is a mural that was made
with animal blood. It was created by hand on a wall in a cave.
MODERN ART FORMS
Today you can create oil paintings, use watercolor,
and even spray paint walls.
One
of the most common modern art forms is street art. You can make it with spray
paint or acrylic paint. I love street art because it has unlimited ideas for
drawings and it’s so colorful. I love driving or walking by the amazing artwork.
This is an example of street art right here in Puerto Vallarta.
HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN ART
The
first thing you need are materials.
·
Pencils
·
Eraser
·
Colors
·
Paper
·
Markers
For
ideas you can look around inside your home or outside in nature. Start by
drawing with a pencil and a piece of paper. It doesn’t have to be perfect or
fancy. As you practice, you will get better. I started drawing with pencils and
then I added color.
MY OWN WORK:
The
materials I used are pencils and acrylic paints. I like to draw things about nature such as plants, sunsets, forests
and the ocean. I also like to draw
animals such as dogs, tigers and even imaginary creatures!
Art
doesn’t have to just be drawings or paintings. Art can be lots of different
things like: music, sculptures, songs, ballet, dance, cooking, etc.
ART IN MEXICO:
Mexican
art is special, colorful, and beautiful. Mexican artists have a love for color
and form and an amazing talent for paintings and sculptures.
I
like art in Mexico because the paintings are so colorful and vibrant. I know it
came from the heart and it was not copied.
One
of the artworks I like in Mexico are alebrijes because they are a mix of
animals and they came from the imagination.
WHY ART IS AMAZING
Art isn’t just something you look at like it’s
a chair or a pencil. When I look at art, I see color and emotion and most of
all love. When people love art, and are passionate about it, you can see their
love for art in their work. I hope you can see it too.
